Alberto Fujimori re-elected president with 64% of votes; Pérez de Cuéllar second with 22% of votes
General elections are held in Peru. Alberto Fujimori Fujimori is reelected with 64% of the votes, while Javier Perez de Cuellar obtains the second place with 22%. The electoral campaign took place in the midst of the conflict with Ecuador. C90-NM acquires majority in congress with 67 seats; UPP obtains 17.
