This work has been printed in 2 volumes and eight chapters. The first volume covers the first three chapters and deals with the study of Sendero Luminoso from its name, origin, evolution, plans, campaigns, ideological and political foundation, organizational structure, modus operandi, Socorro Popular del Perú, and its newspaper. The second volume continues with chapter IV, which deals with SL's international activities; chapter V addresses the balance sheet and prospects, seven years after the capture of the Senderista leader; chapter VI studies the MRTA and the "hostage crisis"; chapter VII outlines some principal differences between SL and the MRTA. Chapter VIII completes the work with a comprehensive analysis of anti-terrorist legislation prepared by PNP commanders Edgar Vizcarra Basto and Henry Golac López, class brothers, with their characteristic quality.
