Riots and massacres in three Lima prisons
PCP-SL riots in three prisons violently broke out with 244 inmates executed
On June 18 and 19, 1986 there were simultaneous riots organized by the PCP-SL in three prisons in Lima and Callao. Law enforcement forces intervened with extreme violence resulting in the death of 244 inmates executed: 118 in El Frontón, 124 in Lurigancho and 2 in Santa Bárbara. The riots were subdued under orders from Alan Garcia Perez's government.
