Violations at Military Base 48 in Pangoa
In 1990, soldiers at Military Base 48 in Pangoa systematically raped female detainees, who were subjected to the same mistreatment as male detainees, as well as sexual violence.
Another witness who lived in Pangoa said that around 1990, soldiers at Military Base 48 raped women who were detained. The treatment given by the soldiers to the women was similar to that given to the men, but they were also raped. Young girls and women were raped if they were captured. This pattern of sexual violence was part of the systematic practices of abuse against the civilian population by the military during the internal armed conflict.
