Women in Peru. Their Rights, in Danger
Since the early 1980s, Peru has suffered a long and dirty internal war between the government and armed insurgent groups. Women, like men, have been in the crosshairs of both sides of the conflict. They have been victims of extrajudicial executions, "disappearances," torture including rape, and mistreatment by both terrorists and members of the security forces. This report documents the scale of the abuses committed against women in Peru. (Introduction excerpt).
