The Reparations Process for Women Victims of Sexual Violence during the Internal Conflict in Peru
One of the main findings of this body was to highlight the differentiated impact of violence on women, which manifested primarily in the sexual violence they suffered. Using the data and testimonies collected, it became possible to make visible, on the one hand, the fact that sexual violence was used as part of an anti-subversive strategy of the Peruvian Armed Forces, evidenced during incursions into rural communities, detentions at military bases and in other spaces where women were its primary victims. On the other hand, the CVR indicated that the cases of sexual violence that occurred in Peru between 1980 and 2000 were of such magnitude as to constitute a crime against humanity, given their generalized character in some cases and systematic character in others.
