Shining Path at the Political Crossroads of Peru.
This article is devoted to examining the particularities of violence in Peru through an analysis of the Sendero Luminoso experience. In pursuit of that objective, the work contains three parts. The first situates the violence of the 1980s in a historical perspective that makes it comprehensible. The second describes and analyzes the rise and fall of Sendero. The third, by way of conclusion, explores the current political alternatives in Peru and the place of armed subversion.
