History of a Betrayal II
Sendero and fujimontesinista paramilitaries flooded the country with blood from 1990 until the definitive capture of Guzmán in 1992. In the nearly two years (22 months) that elapsed between the date on which the fujimontesinista mafia prevented, for its dictatorial ambitions, the capture of Sendero leader Abimael Guzmán, and his definitive arrest on September 12, 1992, fierce attacks and bloody acts were carried out by his organization, including 37 car bombs detonated in various cities across the country, especially in Lima. Among the crimes that could have been avoided had it not been for the betrayal of that regime, the most notable include the murders of social leader María Elena Moyano (February 15, 1992); the attack on calle Tarata, in Miraflores (July 16, 1992); and the attack on Canal 2 de TV (June 5, 1992), among other crimes.
