La Cantuta Massacre, for Which Fujimori Was Convicted, Marks Its 20th Anniversary
Today marks 20 years since nine students and a professor from La Cantuta university were abducted and murdered by a military group, in one of the cases for which former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori was convicted of human rights abuses in 2009. The representative of the La Cantuta victims' families, Gisella Ortiz, complained today that none of those sentenced in this case, including Fujimori, have yet paid the economic reparations ordered by the courts.
