From Shining Path to the Militarization of the Country

In the following work, an attempt will be made to develop the causes of the so-called political-military success of the P.C.P. - Sendero Luminoso during the 1980s, what were clearly the responses given by the Peruvian State and the Armed Forces of Peru, and to what degree foreign military interference has occurred in strictly internal conflicts, which have given rise to the intervention of military forces in internal affairs under the pretext of maintaining socio-political-economic stability in the region. It is more than necessary to understand why Sendero Luminoso was one of the armed organizations with the greatest incidence and most productive grassroots work in Latin America, if not the greatest; as well as to understand how the organization managed to be destabilized along with its territorial dominance over the course of the 1990s; and finally, to what degree the political instability of the Andean region is related to the growing militarization of the same and the levels that the latter has reached, at least until the twilight of Fujimori's dictatorial regime.
