Telapaccha. Infamy and Pain of Political Violence

After entering university in 1994, I began conducting research into the reality of my own people and district; based on data collection and the systematization of experiences, the problems were latent and there was much to be done for this locality, as it would be the first research of a scientific nature — no professional or anyone else had ever been interested in carrying out any substantive work in this place, with only a monograph by local teachers existing for the district. It is therefore necessary to make known the lived experience of this town center, through oral accounts, old documents, and also the transmission from parents to children, from family members and fellow townspeople. Before this repeats itself, I had the intention of discovering and delving deeper into the social reality of the people, of understanding the tragedy brought upon us by the political violence that struck our area. Writing about these themes of pain and political violence is of great importance, though many aspects remain to be addressed. (Introduction excerpt).
