Years of Terror and Destruction in Andean Villages of Peru 1980-1992
This study constitutes the systematization, in time and space, of events and consequences of violence at the national level, particularly in the Andean world. It can also be considered a closer approximation to the existing reality at different levels, including the corresponding reconstruction responses. Hence the title: "Years of terror and destruction in the Andean towns of Peru 1980–1992." The fundamental purpose of this essay is to serve as a first-hand reference source for the bodies and institutions committed to the subject. It is not a doctrinal reflection on violence, nor a critical judgment of the motivation, factors, and elements that drove this socio-political event. It encompasses the gathering and ordering of information collected in the Andean conflict settings, leading to a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the impact and devastation caused, with prospects for reconstruction.
