Shining Path. The Wrong War
This book aims to clarify the military reality of Sendero, evaluated from a professional standpoint. The product of a careful study of the conflict situation and of the doctrinal aspects of Senderista activity, its central thesis is that Sendero is waging a war for which it was not prepared and that, consequently, its war is a mistaken one that will lead it nowhere. Although the Senderista leadership may not acknowledge it, the truth is that Sendero's weakest aspect is the military one and that its best possibilities lie in the political arena; nonetheless, and inexorably, it will have to travel the difficult road of electoral competition if it wants to have any significance in the national landscape of the years to come.
