Figures and Chronology of Political Violence in the Central Region of Peru, 1980-1991

The book is divided into two parts. The first is Statistical Information, presented subdivided into three sections: Central Region (departments of Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín, Pasco), covering the period 1980–1991; Region "Andrés A. Cáceres" (departments of Junín, Pasco, Huánuco), year 1991; Valle del Mantaro (provinces of Huancayo, Jauja, Concepción), covering the period 1980–1991. In each section the statistical tables and graphs are grouped under Events and Victims. Within each section, information is presented consolidated by frequency (annual, monthly) and geographic scope (departments or provinces); broken down by type of action (subversive, counter-subversive, paramilitary, unresolved); (SL, MRTA, Forces of Order, Civil Defense Committees, Unknown, others); objective (for sabotage actions); type of victim (civilians, National Police, Armed Forces, alleged subversives); government periods; etc. The second part is the chronology, which records in summary form all registered events. It is presented by year, month and day of occurrence; each paragraph describing an event indicates at the beginning its geographic location in the following order: department, province and, in the majority of cases, also the district. Between lines, the name of the uninhabited place, community, annex or locality where the event occurred is indicated.
