Extradition, Trial and Conviction of Alberto Fujimori
The criminal proceedings brought against former president Alberto Fujimori in the Barrios Altos and La Cantuta cases, and the case of the Basements of the Army Intelligence Service (SIE), has marked an important milestone both in Peru and in the international community in two fundamental respects: a) in the fight against impunity and b) in the fight against human rights violations. It is therefore necessary to document a chronicle of the events surrounding this trial, in order to clearly establish the facts and the legal arguments that made it possible to convict former president Fujimori.
