Justice and Reparation for Women Victims of Sexual Violence in Contexts of Internal Armed Conflict
The document brings together the papers presented at the International Seminar on Justice and Reparations for Women Victims of Sexual Violence in Contexts of Internal Armed Conflict, held in Lima (Peru) on August 9 and 10, 2006. The results of the Seminar confront us with new challenges in advancing justice processes, such as: achieving greater flexibility in evidentiary standards for cases of sexual violence committed against women during internal armed conflicts; resolving conflicts between domestic norms and/or between these and international norms, opting to apply the one with the higher standard — that is, the one that guarantees greater protection of victims' rights; the ongoing strengthening of effective strategies for interdisciplinary work from an intercultural and gender perspective; as well as information and awareness-raising for legal professionals on human rights issues and, in particular, on women's rights.
