Car-Bomb Generation (advance: first 16 pages)

A group of friends seeks an escape from their emptiness. Between Sendero Luminoso and the repression, the outlook is quite bleak. They do not know what they want or how to get it. In the midst of all this, love presents itself as an alternative for one of them: Adrián R. He himself is surprised to find that feeling amid the lovelessness, but once again reality will impose itself on desires and dreams. A novel that might resemble many others about wayward, iconoclastic youth, with parties, drugs, and rock and roll — except that this one does not escape the context in which the characters' lives unfold. Like another character, the city intervenes, whether as a witness to events or as a song that seems to rise from the sidewalks and facades. The soundtrack of those lived times. Set in the late 1980s, Generación Cochebomba reflects how difficult it was to grow up in that era of scarcity, inflation, blackouts, repression, and car bombs. All of it seasoned with underground rock — that radical, youthful movement of the eighties that still calls us to reflection.
