MRTA leader Lucero Cumpa in March 1991. She was first captured in November 1987 and held at Penal Castro Castro, from which she escaped along with other MRTA members in July 1990. She was recaptured in March 1991 but was again rescued by MRTA members during her transfer to a courthouse. She was finally detained on May 1, 1993 in the city of Tarapoto.
