Bodies of David Churampi Buendía and Moisés Yarasca Huamaní
Bodies of David Churampi Buendía, an agronomy student, and Moisés Yarasca Huamaní. Both were students at the Universidad del Centro and were allegedly murdered by security forces for painting graffiti related to the armed struggle. The Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú (UNCP) was the scene of a bloody conflict between the subversive groups Sendero Luminoso and the MRTA, and between both of them and the security forces. The first criminal acts were the responsibility of Sendero Luminoso, whose members virtually succeeded in controlling all institutional life at this institution. However, from 1991 onward, counter-subversive forces began a systematic policy of disappearances and executions of individuals suspected of belonging to or sympathizing with the subversive groups. There is evidence of the Colina group's participation in the executions and disappearances of students, faculty, and staff of the UNCP as part of a selective and lethal repression. A total of 28 students were murdered, 36 were extrajudicially executed, and 29 remain disappeared, as do eight professors and four staff members. To this day, there are still cases that have not been clarified.
