Car bomb, Callao, 1992
A car bomb containing 150 kilograms of dynamite reduced the Carmen de la Legua police station in Callao, Lima, to ruins on May 9, 1992. From the late 1980s, the internal armed conflict began to intensify in the city of Lima. Sendero Luminoso's offensive meant that the capital endured daily blackouts, targeted killings, and car bombings.
