Assassination Attempt on Pedro Huilca
On December 18, 1992, members of the Sendero Luminoso, a Maoist insurgent group, attempted to assassinate Pedro Huilca, the Secretary General of the CGTP, a major Peruvian labor union. Pedro Huilca, dirigente sindical y Secretario General de la CGTP, fue asesinado por un Destacamento Especial de Sendero Luminoso conformado por varios militantes bajo las órdenes del Comité Metropolitano de Lima. El operativo fue planificado entre el 13 y 17 de diciembre de 1992, con reuniones en viviendas de Puente Piedra y Comas para ultimar detalles del atentado. El 18 de diciembre de 1992, a las 6:30 de la mañana, la Policía detuvo a dos de los integrantes de la célula ejecutora antes de que consumaran el crimen.
