Frustrated Terrorist Attack on Av. Industrial
On July 29, 1989, a group of young individuals allegedly affiliated with the PCP-SL were intercepted by police forces near Av. Industrial. During the confrontation, a woman from the group attempted to use an explosive device but was shot by the police. The incident resulted in the deaths of José Abel Malpartida Páez and Luis Alberto Alvarez Aguilar due to explosive trauma.
Según el Mayor Guerra de la Comisaría de Sol de Oro, efectivos de la SUAT bajo el mando del Alférez "Cobra 3" divisaron siete sospechosos en la Panamericana Norte. Cuatro de ellos portaban paquetes que intentaban ocultar y al ser intervenidos abrieron fuego. Una mujer activó y lanzó un artefacto explosivo profiriendo lemas subversivos, siendo abatida. Los protocolos de necropsia de José Abel Malpartida Páez y Luis Alberto Alvarez Aguilar, fechados el 29 de julio de 1989, determinaron que ambos murieron por traumatismos múltiples provocados por explosión a corta distancia.
