Kidnapping and Murder of Pedro Miyasato by MRTA
On April 22, 1993, Pedro Miyasato, a glassware businessman, was violently kidnapped by members of the MRTA while on his way to work in La Victoria, Lima. Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, the subversives fired shots to deter them. Miyasato was tortured during the abduction and, after attempting to escape, was executed by the kidnappers. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to a clinic.
El empresario vidriero Pedro Miyasato fue interceptado violentamente por miembros del MRTA el 22 de abril de 1993 cuando intentaba ingresar a su establecimiento en la intersección de la Avenida Paseo de La República y el Jirón Hipólito Unanue, en La Victoria, Lima. Durante el secuestro, dispararon contra personas que intentaron intervenir. En el trayecto hacia Santa Catalina, Miyasato fue torturado con un objeto punzo cortante por oponer resistencia. Cuando se desplazaban por la primera cuadra de la calle Pietro Vitorelli en Santa Catalina, intentó escapar y fue asesinado.
