Sendero Luminoso Incursion in Juan de Iscos
In January 1991, members of the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) insurgent group entered the district of Juan de Iscos in the province of Chupaca, department of Junín, Peru. During this incursion, they captured the community treasurer, stripped her naked, tied her to a post, and painted a hammer and sickle on her body. She was accused of embezzling community funds and having relationships with multiple men.
Elementos de Sendero Luminoso incursionaron en enero de 1991 en el distrito de Juan de Iscos, provincia de Chupaca, departamento de Junín. Durante esta incursión aprehendieron a varios pobladores, incluyendo a la tesorera de la comunidad. A la tesorera la desnudaron completamente, la amarraron a un poste y le pintaron en el cuerpo la hoz y el martillo como forma de castigo. La acusaron de malversar fondos del pueblo y de mantener relaciones con hombres.
