Santiago Martin Rivas testifies at the Fujimori trial. Part 8

The former head of the Colina group, Santiago Martin Rivas, was summoned as a witness in the trial of Alberto Fujimori. In his statement, the former military officer — now convicted for the crimes of La Cantuta and Barrios Altos — attempted to clear the former president of all responsibility as the intellectual author of those crimes. Martín Rivas went so far as to apologize to Fujimori "for the verbal excesses" he claimed to have committed when, in an interview given to journalist Umberto Jara, he stated that the former president had ordered the crimes carried out by the Grupo Colina.
