The Internal War. Shining Path's Luminous Trenches of Combat and Its Disciplinary Methods in Lima's Prisons

We can argue that disciplinary practices in prison implied something fundamental within Sendero Luminoso's policy, whether for the preservation of its cadres, safeguarding its ideological structure, and finally, preserving its hierarchical power structure in the midst of internal war. Without these disciplinary practices, its organization would have had a high probability of disintegrating into the other sub-orders of common crime that governed the prison system, losing political presence and allowing a large number of its cadres to be dismantled.
