Abimael Guzmán, a Life Trapped by Evil
Abimael Guzmán became for the writer Santiago Roncagliolo (Lima, 1975) a literary character far better than any he could have imagined for his novels. He began researching his life for a journalistic piece for EL PAÍS and ended up writing La cuarta espada. La historia de Abimael Guzmán y Sendero Luminoso (Debate), an essay on the terrorist leader who ordered the deaths of 35,000 people in Peru between 1980 and 2000.
