The 55 of Lima
Lima accounts for only 2% of the disappeared at the national level. But this does not prevent the identification of a pattern of disappearances. Three moments are identified in the practice of enforced disappearance of persons in the Lima region: a preceding phase without a systematic pattern prior to 1989; a selective pattern from 1989 onward, rural/semi-urban; and a selective pattern concentrated in the urban area, with intensive intelligence activity from 1992.
