Ombudsman investigation into the existence of a mass grave with human remains in the area of Sillaccasa, in the district of Chuschi, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho. In August 2001, the Defensoría del Pueblo learned of the existence of a mass grave with human remains in the area known as "Sillaccasa," in the district of Chuschi, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho. Initial information indicated that eight residents of the rural community of Quispillaqta in Chuschi had been killed — detained and subsequently murdered, presumably by members of the Peruvian Army.
