2ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIRTUAL LIBRARY OF GENOCIDE IN AYACUCHO

During the years 1980 to 2000, the Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación estimated that approximately 70,000 people were killed, mostly in Ayacucho. As part of this genocide, a campaign of forced sterilization of 300,000 women — mostly Quechua-speaking and poor — was carried out in the 1990s. In order to prevent these atrocities from recurring, the FHM launched, two years ago, the formation of the "Virtual Library of the Genocide in Ayacucho" to preserve the historical memory of the bloody events caused by Sendero Luminoso terrorism, the MRTA, and the brutal repression by some members of the State's security forces.
