The Colina Group Surpassed: The Death Squad in Ayacucho
In December 1990, through their contacts with the police and the armed forces (FF AA), expert Political Officers from the US Embassy in Lima personally interrogated a police sergeant who recounted in detail how the death squad to which he belonged murdered 300 suspects accused of being Sendero Luminoso (SL) terrorists in Ayacucho during 1989. The squad also murdered accused or convicted Senderistas as they left prisons in Ayacucho during 1989. Alan García was president at the time.
