The Army Launches Against Shining Path
Four hundred soldiers and intelligence agents joined the pursuit in Peru today of the column of the guerrilla group Sendero Luminoso that on Saturday killed nine soldiers in the central jungle. The attack on the military patrol occurred as its members were descending from a helicopter, near the Anapatí river, a tributary of the Ene, in the jungles of Satipo, a forested region characterized by the illegal production of coca and other drug trafficking activities.
