The 'Other' Version of the Assault on the Prisons of Lurigancho, El Frontón and El Callao
The Department of Public Law and Legal and Political Sciences of the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa (Peru) commissioned professors Enrique Soto, Rómulo González, and Alfonso Banda to conduct an investigation into what occurred during the assault on the Lima prisons of Lurigancho, El Frontón, and El Callao, which took place on June 19 of last year and resulted in the deaths of several hundred prisoners, alleged members of Sendero Luminoso. A summary of the conclusions of that report is reproduced here for its documentary value.
