The Difficulties of Memory, Power and Reconciliation in the Andes: The Ayacucho Example
This work revolves around the problem of violence, memory, and what is called the reconciliation process in Peru from the Ayacucho perspective. The author's concern centers on what happened in rural areas, especially the peasant communities of northern Ayacucho. A great deal has been written about violence in these communities and the "rivers of blood" have become "rivers of ink" for more than a few authors; however, efforts to place ourselves in the position of those "others" who are so different and yet so similar to "us" remain scarce
