In 1996, the Fujimori regime returned to Japan Kazue Yoshimura, a member of the Japanese Red Army — a major terrorist organization — who had been arrested by the DINCOTE for alleged ties to Sendero Luminoso. Currently, it also has as an elected member of parliament Neri Felipa Salinas Dávila, who was previously accused of belonging to the MRTA.
