PERU: Hitler Was in Ayacucho
The accounts of survivors of the Los Cabitos barracks in Peru, who claim that the site was a center of torture and extermination, are corroborated as more bodies clandestinely buried at that military installation in Huamanga, capital of the southern region of Ayacucho, are exhumed. Los Cabitos was the main headquarters of the Political-Military Front of Ayacucho during the internal war (1980–2000). There, high-ranking army commanders planned operations to confront the Maoist group Sendero Luminoso, but it also served as a place of detention, torture, and murder of individuals suspected of belonging to the insurgency.
