Mother Covadonga. A Life in Search of Peace
At 85 years of age and after decades alongside the victims of the war, the Asturian nun known as "Madre Covadonga" is an undisputed reference point for peace in the battered Peruvian region of Ayacucho. Honored by countless human rights organizations, the Spanish Dominican is the voice of conscience in that remote Andean enclave, but above all she is a survivor of the conflict waged by the Maoist group Sendero Luminoso against the government during the period from 1980 to 2000.
