Path of Violence. Journalistic Testimonies 1980-1989
The present work aims to recount in an objective manner the violent acts carried out by the Partido Comunista Peruano "Sendero Luminoso," with its leader Abimael Guzmán at the helm. Beyond the specific demonstration of the weight of violence in pivotal events in the country, each of the events recounted in this work shows how the rupture of the established order occurs and how new forms of social relations are installed. A vision of Peruvian history — or of momentous events related to it — cannot be framed exclusively through the lens of violence; to do so would be inadequate and unjust. Along these lines, an approach to the recent political history of the country has been proposed, understanding politics as an activity that includes and affects the national community, based on events whose common denominator is violence and which have been the subject of strict journalistic treatment.
