In My Night Without Fortune
"In My Unfortunate Night" offers the reader an autumnal love story set in Peru from the 1950s onward, including the hurricane of Sendero Luminoso. Two or three chapters take place in Spain, the country to which the protagonist travels on the occasion of the anniversary of the encounter of two worlds that occurred in 1992. Fiction based on quite a few real events that the author has been able to know and, in certain cases, experience closely. The book proposes, in some sense, the parallel life that the founder and leader of Sendero Luminoso might have had had he accepted the conventions of a traditional and class-ridden society that tempted and carefully prepared him. Just as the protagonist cannot escape his destiny, neither could that leader have done so.
