The APRA Genocide Against Shining Path

Whatever one's political and ideological conviction, religious belief, level of education, social class or age, one cannot but be shaken by the horror of the murders committed against political prisoners in Peru's prisons. The following pages that make up this anthological publication should never have been published, as they constitute the most shameful and degrading disgrace of contemporary civilization; and even more so given that the despicable acts of this Genocide were committed by none other than the Armed Forces under the command and determination of the Constitutional President of the Republic. But since circumstances demand an exemplary sanction, perpetuating the facts for history is not only a duty of every person but an obligation that many of us would wish to fulfill. Hence the edition of this terrifying compilation of the genocide, of the criteria and denunciations formulated by various figures — including the press, which fulfills the task of always reminding us that our reason for being must not stray from the struggle to build a new World in a new Homeland upon the ashes of this old order of things.
