NOTE FROM THE FUNDACIÓN HERBERT MOROTE. One of the objectives of the Biblioteca Virtual de la Verdad y la Reconciliación Perú (1980-2000) is to make available to interested parties books that have been written without any censorship on our part. Among the many books we hold, there are authors as disparate as those who unconditionally defend the State Forces — for example, those published by high-ranking military officers — and those written by criminal terrorists who defend their actions. We believe that scholars will know how to find the fallacies of both factions and will not fall into the deceptive trap they display. It is in keeping with this objective that we have included this book by the criminal terrorist Abimael Guzmán because we are convinced that the reader will find that all the immense and tedious rhetoric he displays does not justify his thousands of murders, rapes, tortures, and disappearances committed by Sendero Luminoso.
