Andean Thought and Postcolonial Criticism. A Study of Rosa Cuchillo by Oscar Colchado

The various issues presented in the novel "Rosa Cuchillo" (Óscar Colchado) revolve around the interconnection of two fundamental aspects. First, its condition as a bicultural novel — that is, a literary work that situates itself at the frontier of two sociocultural systems (or semiospheres) that interact and combine tensionally within our national territory: the Andean and the Western. Second, the representation of the internal armed conflict (1980–2000) increases the need for analysis of the novel since it inscribes the principal problems of our society (colonial legacies, violence, and social exclusion) in the most dramatic moment of our republican history.
