Political Violence in Peru, 1980-1988. Volume I

This work consists of two volumes. The first is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 addresses statistics on violence, presenting figures on attacks based on studies by DESCO, the Ministerio del Interior, and the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas, and also analyzes figures on victims. Chapter 2 covers the chronology of political violence, touching on topics such as: the main events of political violence, the MRTA, the Comando Democrático Rodrigo Franco, selective attacks between 1985 and 1988, victims during the curfew in metropolitan Lima, and more. The following chapter offers opinions on the phenomenon of political violence in Peru from some political parties, including: Acción Popular, Partido Popular Cristiano, Partido Aprista Peruano, and some left-wing leaders. Volume II continues with these opinions, this time from ministers, military officers, and retired officials, as well as some media outlets such as the magazine Caretas and the newspapers El Comercio, Expreso, La República, and others.
