Memory for the Absent. The Disappeared in Peru (1982-1996)
This book deals with the forced disappearance of persons in Peru, a practice that, along with extrajudicial executions and torture, was carried out in a massive and systematic manner during the period of political violence (internal armed conflict, 1980–2000). These practices, which constitute crimes against humanity, have not been the subject of any investigation and have remained in impunity. These crimes constituted the most important matter on which the next democratic government would inevitably have to take a position, making it possible for justice to be served, the truth to be known, and victims to receive reparations.
