Panoramic view of the destroyed buildings the day after the explosion. On July 16, 1992, a car bomb exploded on calle Tarata in the Lima district of Miraflores. As a result of the detonation, 23 people died, more than one hundred were wounded, and extensive material damage was recorded. This attack by Sendero Luminoso was one of the most emblematic of the early 1990s, when terror was used as part of the Shining Path's strategy in the city of Lima.
