Car bomb that exploded in front of the Ministry of Economy on March 23, 1990, killing the subversive who was driving it and the child accompanying him. The explosion, intended to sabotage the general elections, left 39 people injured. From the late 1980s onward, the period of violence began to intensify in the city of Lima. The Sendero Luminoso offensive meant that the capital endured daily blackouts, targeted assassinations, and car bombs.
