Press presentation of prisoners accused of being members of Socorro Popular

Presentation to the press of prisoners accused of being members of Socorro Popular, the Sendero Luminoso organ that carried out actions in urban areas, in October 1992. In the early stages of the Senderista armed insurgency, Socorro Popular (SOPO) was considered a secondary body within the subversive organization, focused mainly on logistics work in cities, especially Lima. When, toward the second half of the 1980s, cities were seen as an increasingly important space for subversive actions, Socorro Popular took on military responsibilities and gained greater importance within Sendero Luminoso's organizational structure, eventually becoming a party committee.
