Press presentation of María Elena Loayza (left) and Angelina Torres (right) on February 26, 1993 at the offices of the Dirección Nacional Contra el Terrorismo (DINCOTE), Lima. Loayza was accused by Torres of being a member of Sendero Luminoso and, once imprisoned, was tortured and raped. She was held for four years until the Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDDHH) ordered the Peruvian government to release her and pay civil reparations.
