High-voltage tower brought down with explosives in May 1983. That month, Lima endured several similar attacks that caused blackouts throughout the city. Sendero Luminoso carried out actions that amounted to a growing wave of killings and dynamite attacks against police posts, banks, public institutions, and high-voltage towers.
