MRTA opens Northeastern Front increasing level of armed confrontation
In November 1987, the MRTA moved to the next stage of its war with the opening of the Northeastern Front, increasing the level of confrontation with the forces of law and order. This fact added to the considerable presence that the PCP-SL had achieved in the country, increasing political violence.
